Twin Birthday Cake

I grew up with two amazing cousins, Michael and Mishelle, who also happen to be boy/girl twins. They are seriously two of my favorite people and ever since I really got into making cakes I've wanted to make them one for their birthday, I just wasn't sure what I wanted to do. This year I jumped at the chance to make a cake for their birthday bash. So in a joint effort with Rachael (the birthday boy's wife), we came up with a really fun cake. It was a ton of work but also a lot of fun to do. This was cherry chip cake with buttercream and fondant.

Dora the Explorer

This Dora the Explorer birthday cake was for my niece Shelby. I decided to try my hand at homemade fondant this time around and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to work with and it tasted much better.

Back to Back Weddings

Here are two wedding cakes I did in August. I may have taken on a little too much doing back to back weekends, but when all was said and done I was pretty happy with both cakes. That and the fact that my family is all still living makes it a success! ;)

This was for Shauna and Tyler. Vanilla cake with buttercream and fondant. Fun colors, classic design.
This was for Emillie and Adam. Marble cake with buttercream. First time doing marble cake and I loved it. Also first time to do the offset design. Loved the assortment of flowers she picked, but mostly the hydrangeas on this cake.

Michelle and John's Wedding

I made this cake for another cousin, Michelle, and her new hubby, John. I love how the ivory and browns came together so beautifully. Yet another beautiful reception and bride!

Mark and Stacey Wedding

This cake was for my cousin, Stacey. She sent me a picture of the cake she wanted and I pretty much replicated it. I wish I'd have gotten pictures of the whole reception, because it was GORGEOUS, as was the bride!

Spiderman

This was for my little boy's 6th birthday party. I had been wanting to make this one for quite some time and finally came across the instructions so I had to give it a try. Of course my little man was ecstatic! The cupcakes below were made for his class as school the day before. He really wanted Spiderman rings on them, but the only way I could get them was to buy the cupcakes at a crazy price from Walmart and I decided to see what else I could come up with. I found the Spiderman chocolates at the Dollar Tree in their Valentine's section and made the webs with candy melts. The birthday boy and I were both pretty happy with the way these turned out, as well. :)

New Year's Wedding Cake

I made this cake for the New Year's wedding of my cousin, Abby and her husband Jason. They said "I do" at midnight. It was a BEAUTIFUL ceremony and I was so glad I was able to attend. The cake was all vanilla with buttercream frosting and fondant over all. He had proposed with red, white, and pink roses so we used those colors in the cake with some little pearl and silver accents. I wish I had gotten a picture of the mini sparkling cider bottles they had for guests. They were TOO CUTE!
