New Moon Release Party

Some friends and I hosted a New Moon release party last night and I made this for the dessert. I attempted to recreate the flower from the cover in fondant, but missed the all important step of non-stick spray on the drying surfaces and they stuck. So...fake flower to the rescue! Red Velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. It was very rich, but delish!

Vanessa and Chad's Wedding

The picture above is a little deceiving. All the ribbon was hot pink and matched the flowers, as you can see below.
I was pretty much given free reign on this cake. All they specified was square, buttercream, hot pink and navy. Simple enough. This was one of the few that I've done with all real layers and I liked the way it turned out. By far my favorite part of this cake was the flower topper I made. It was a nice break from icing cakes and I really loved the way it turned out.

Cow cuteness!

I made this for my cousin's father-in-law while she was making an adorable Strawberry Shortcake cake for her sweet little one. I did end up writing on it so the end product wasn't quite so plain, but I didn't get pictures of the finished product. Very simple, but oh so cute ;) These cows are just too sweet.

Kammie and Jeff's Wedding

I did this cake back in May for the cutest couple! It was a simple butter cake with buttercream frosting/filling under the fondant.

Pure Line Seed cake

Not much to say about these except I was really happy with the way they turned out! :) Peas and logo are made of fondant.

Kim & Kolby's Wedding

Yesterday my cousin Kim got married. I already posted a pic of the cake on my personal blog, but thought for the sake of keeping them all in one place I'd post it here too. The cake actually has only one real cake layer, with cake dummies for the bottom two layers. I made a butter cake with lemon cream cheese filling, the frosting is all buttercream. All my cakes are a learning experience and this was no exception. I learned my hands aren't nearly as steady as I'd like them to be! I did enjoy making this one though and although I see some imperfections, I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

It's a boy!

Here is my most recent creation made for a friend's jungle themed baby shower. I made the monkey and tree out of fondant. I used a dowel for the tree trunk and just covered it with fondant. I was also hosting the shower so I didn't want to stress myself by going too detailed. I also tried a new filling recipe which I loved. It was a Lemon Cream Cheese filling and it was very yummy!
